Congresswoman McKinney believes that the most important bill that she votes on in the US Congress is the federal budget which is a blueprint of where our country is headed.  At almost 3 trillion dollars, the federal budget properly directed can provide for the health and security of our nation.  Congresswoman McKinney believes that the 4th District must get its fair share and that taxpayers should get maximum value for their contribution to our country's overall security. That's why she has repeatedly spoken out against Pentagon waste, fraud, and abuse.

The contracting practices of the Bush Administration are shameful for the appearance of corruption and their treatment of small businesses, especially minority business owners. If Pentagon practices were overlooked by the mainstream media, Hurricane Katrina gave the world a second look at the contracting practices of the Bush Administration.

The evidence is clear that the federal government must do better. Toward that end, Congresswoman McKinney launched a business advisory committee for the purpose of helping the federal government become more responsive to the needs of small business owners.  Small and minority business owners across the country have taken an interest in the Congresswoman's Committee because of her high profile and their high hopes for success.
